(PRNewsChannel) / Los Angeles, Calif. / Continuing the success from the video postcard campaign, “Vote for Change” artist Shepard Fairey and director Melissa Balin are teaming up with Citizen Kate TV to help create the new “Hopes For Change” campaign during the inauguration.

Following the success of more than a million video postcard downloads to iPods, iPhones, and social networking sites in less than two weeks before Election Day, the campaign will continue, through this and future administrations, to provide art informing social action at http://www.obeygiant.com/voteforchange.

Fairey and Balin selected video blogger Citizen Kate (http://www.citizenkate.tv), whose full name is Kate Soglin to serve as the People’s Correspondent for the campaign during the inauguration because of her unique connection to the everyday voter and her belief that one person can make a difference.  Kate will conduct interviews with celebrities, dignitaries, tastemakers and other leaders sharing their “Hopes for Change.”

“This really is a fabulous opportunity to share what’s on the minds of regular citizens. Obama asked us to tell him what we need. The ‘Hopes for Change’ campaign offers a unique platform to do just that. And I love platforms,” says Soglin. “I can’t wait to be in D.C. next week to help with this amazing project. And hug all the people.”

Since February 2007, Soglin has made a name for herself as Citizen Kate, touring the country during the campaign to meet Presidential candidates, to understand the political process and to share her platform of “Peace and Hugs”.

Her stories from the campaign trail have been featured all over the Internet and mobile media including: YouTube, Veoh.com, Webcastr.com, VCast, and her own Citizen Kate TV Web site. Citizen Kate commissioned the Obama “butterhead bust” that arguably put the soon to be 44th president over the top to win the Iowa caucus and get his campaign off to a strong start.

The new video postcards, “Hopes for Change,” merge Kate’s insatiable courtesy for the thoughts of everyday Americans with the wildly successful “Vote for Change” project.

“An extra special thanks goes out to every person who rocked a sticker, who clicked to download, who emailed to a friend, who carpooled to the polls, who voted... and ultimately, who should feel proud to be responsible for electing Barack Obama as the 44th President of The United States Of America!” says Fairey.  “We’re excited to have Citizen Kate a part of this new journey,” said Balin.

The original project was inspired by the first presidential debate and with only a week's preparation, artists, business owners, musicians, actors and opinion-makers volunteered to share their support for Barack Obama's presidential campaign. Each was given 60 seconds to express themselves, uncensored, on camera through music, spoken word, or poetry, at the Subliminal Projects Gallery in Los Angeles.

Launched on the Internet and downloadable to social networking sites, iPods, PSPs and other mobile devices, the “Vote for Change” Video Postcards powered by the people for the people at NO COST helped encourage many people to get out and vote on November 4th, 2008. This newest project takes it to the next level.

Balin says there are already plans in place to use the video postcards for Obama’s re-election campaign in 2012.

This grass-roots viral political action campaign is presented by the Brookturn Company (www.brookturn.com), Subliminal Projects (www.subliminalprojects.com), DirtyChildren.US, Obey Giant (www.obeygiant.com) and The Luthier Society (www.luthiersociety.com). Co-directed by artist Shepard Fairey and independent filmmaker Melissa Balin, the project is being produced by Melinda Esquibel, Amanda Fairey and Brandon Balin along with associate producers Bryan Rabin, Rose Apodaca, and Lisa Lindo.
